The cause of the fire is not yet clear.

A YOUNG WOMAN was rescued from the balcony of an apartment complex in Dublin city centre this morning after a fire started in a bedroom.

The woman was treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics at the scene but refused to go to hospital.

Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the blaze at Augustin Street at the back of an apartment complex at around 7:45am.

A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade told TheJournal.ie that the apartment building was evacuated while five fire engines attended the scene.

The fire was brought under control by 8:50am.

The cause of the fire is not yet clear. The bedroom where the fire started is considerably damaged, a fire curtain was used to prevent damage to the rest of the apartment block.
