Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A MAN HAS been killed following a crash in Dublin overnight.

The single-vehicle incident occurred when a jeep collided with an electricity pole on the East Wall Road in Dublin 1 at approximately 11.55pm.

The driver and sole occupant of the jeep – a man in his 60s – was rushed to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

There were no passengers in the jeep and gardaí said there were no other injuries reported.

The East Wall road is currently closed between the North Strand Road and Alfie Byrne Road to allow specialist gardaí to carry out a forensic examination of the crash scene this morning. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage – including dash-cam – who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to Gardaí.
