Firefighters battling woodland fires in Dublin

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.

FIREFIGHTERS ARE CONTINUING to battle a woodland fire near Shankill today.

Three units and a senior officer attended the scene this morning after dealing with the blaze yesterday.

A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade told TheJournal.ie that they are now down to one appliance but there is still some burning.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage but it’s thought that it could be simply down to the dry conditions.

It’s understood that there is not much threat to property at present.

Emergency services were first called to the woodland fire near Puck’s Castle in Rathmichael yesterday.
