Dublin Christmas Market finds new home after venue cancelled at last minute

The new venue is at the Point Village.

AFTER AN ELEVENTH-HOUR venue cancellation, the Dublin Christmas Market has finally found a new home.

It was initially supposed to be located in the old John Player factory in Dublin 8, after a number of years in Smithfield.

The not-for-profit event had been given the go-ahead to run the market at the factory, but that was later withdrawn by its tenants.

Organiser Sharon Greene had told TheJournal.ie that they were in a major search for a new venue, and needed somewhere with around 2,000 square metres and ground-floor access.

Today, Greene said that after they put a call out for help, “we were amazed by the positive reaction and support from all corners of the city in response to our plea”.

We have been inundated with recommendations of possible venues, contacts, leads, offers of all sorts, including hot soup for our late night work.

They have finally found a new venue – the Point Village beside 3 Arena.

“We are thrilled to be trading from there for the duration of the weekend 11 to 13 December and we would love to thank everybody who helped us get here,” said Greene.

So the countdown has begun again – this day next week we will have 110 stalls of Irish art, design, craft, collectibles, fashion. furniture, books, music and gifts trading from the Point Village.
