Fortieth arrest made in connection with the Dublin riots in November

A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the riots.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a man in connection with the ongoing investigations into the Dublin riots, bringing the total number of arrests over the disturbances to 40.

The man, in his twenties, was arrested this morning by Gardaí in Store Street.

He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

The Dublin riots, as the serious public disorder events are referred to, took place on 23 November last year in the city centre.

At the time of the riots, 34 people were arrested in the immediate aftermath. This marks the sixth arrest since then.

On 23 November, a number of businesses were looted by rioters, and vehicles, including a Luas tram, were set on fire.

An Garda Síochána continues to appeal to anyone with information about the events on that day, or anyone involved in organising or participating in these events, to contact the Garda investigation team at Store Street Garda Station at 01 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
