IT’S FUNNY how travelling to a new city – especially overseas – can make you stop in awe at some of the things you can see elsewhere, while at the same time overlooking some of the things that make your home town what it is.

Sometimes it can take the eyes of a visitor to really remind you what your own turf has to offer.

Enter Parisian filmmaker Matthieu Chardon, who made the above video out of 52 hours of footage he shot in Dublin last November.

“This video is a celebration of how beautiful and interesting Dublin is through my eyes,” he told us in a email.

At the end it shows only 1 per cent of the city atmosphere but at least I hope it will give you emotions.

It was quite tough to shoot particularly at night, and with hours of walking in the cold and windy Howth hills, but still wonderful. Thanks to Lise who helped me to stay warm.

Check out more of Matthiew’s work – including a HD version of the video above - on his Vimeo channel.
