Dunnes Stores and Spar recall own brand pestos over possible presence of Salmonella

Greenyard Frozen is also recalling various frozen vegetable products because they may contain Listeria monocytogenes.

DUNNES STORES AND Spar have announced a recall of their own brand pestos.

The foods are being recalled due to the possible presence of Salmonella.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) said it was a “precautionary measure”.

Consumers who have bought the implicated batches are being told to dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase.

The Dunnes Stores products include a 130g tomato pesto with an expiry date of 30 September and a 130g basil pesto with an expiry of 25 September.

The Spar products include a 125g basil pesto and red pesto, both with expiry dates of 25 September.

Greenyard Frozen is also recalling various frozen vegetable products because they may contain Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeriosis is a serious disease which can be life threatening, particularly for pregnant women, the elderly and people with a weakened immune system.

The below table shows the products that are affected and the different stores they are were sold in.
