Poll: Do we need to look again at electronic voting?

We wasted over €50 million on a failed e-voting experiment a decade ago. Does that mean it’s off the cards forever?

THEY’RE HEADING INTO the fourth day of counting in Midlands-North West, after less than 300 votes were separating the last candidates in the running following the latest count. No-ones would argue that the process isn’t long and laborious — but it’s also transparently democratic.

The country has a fraught relationship with e-voting, having wasted €51 million on a failed experiment 12 years ago. That said, how long do we have to wait before we begin discussing it again? Is it off the cards forever?

What do you think?

Poll Results:

We should consider e-voting again. (2963)
The system works, let's stick with it. (1968)
I have no opinion. (208)
