Poll: Do you eat foods after their best-before date?

Give it to us straight. Be honest.

IN THE WARMER weather (it’s coming back, we’re sure of it), we receive warnings from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland to make sure food is kept at an appropriate temperature and other timely food safety advice.

One that is always in season is to observe best-before dates. But while consume-by dates have to be strictly observed, do you find yourself looking at something in the fridge gone past its best-before date and thinking, ‘Hell, I’ll chance it’?

Poll Results:

Yes, I'll eat it if it's JUST gone past date (6758)
No, I won't eat it (2451)
I take no notice of best-before dates at all (1877)
