Going to Ed Sheeran? Here's what a hotel will cost you

You could always just build a Lego house?

YOU PROBABLY ARE aware that Ed Sheeran is playing two nights in Croke Park this summer.

And you are also probably aware that getting a hotel room around the time of any big event is expensive. Yesterday, a Dublin hotel caused controversy by suggesting fans should stay in homeless shelters if they weren’t happy with paying inflated prices.

The management of the Charleville Lodge said that their €279-a-night rate for the singer’s Croker dates was reasonable, given their 30-minute walking distance to the stadium. The writer of the post says that:

“As far as I can see, the cheapest hotel room available in Dublin on these nights is €229, and this hotel is nearer to Achill Island than it is Dublin city.”

But are they right?

Assuming you were going to see Ed on the Friday, here’s what a hotel in Dublin’s city centre would cost you:

Further away from the city centre, prices are much cheaper. The Portmarnock Hotel has rooms at €139, while the Newland’s Cross area has few rooms. The Red Cow Hotel has rooms at €239 and the Green Isle has rooms for €159.

But, is it a huge leap? Hotel prices in Dublin are never that cheap, right? Here’s the same search for the week before Sheeran comes to town.

Hotels week before

Not exactly cheap, but a world away from the week after.

You could always just build a Lego house? (Sorry. Not sorry.)
