Eggs, cheese thrown at Mary Harney

Minister for Health comes under fire at a public function – again.

MINISTER MARY HARNEY’S CAR was pelted with eggs and cheese as she arrived at Nenagh General Hospital today.

Harney was opening a new endoscopy unit at the Tipperary hospital when people threw the food at her car, according to RTÉ.

The demonstrators said the new unit is irrelevant because of “ongoing downgrading at the hospital”.

RTÉ reports that about 30 people were involved.

Last week, Harney was splattered with red paint as she turned the sod on a new health centre in Ballyfermot, Dublin. A Dublin city councillor subsequently admitting throwing the paint.

Responding to the incident, Harney said she wasn’t upset and had other things “thrown at her which were probably worse”.
