Eight to appear in court over illegal motoring events in Clare

Up to 70 modified cars were involved.

EIGHT PEOPLE ARE to appear before Ennis District Court charged in connection with illegal car racing in Co Clare.

Seven men and one woman, all in their teens or early twenties, were charged in connection with the the unofficial motoring events.

Up to 70 cars were involved, and travelling from Lahinch to Ballyvaughan.

A number of searches were carried out earlier this month resulting in the arrests.

These were the result of an operation by gardaí to clampdown on races involving modified cars in the county.
