Eirgen to create 30 new pharma jobs in Waterford

The maker of cancer care drugs says the jobs will help support the research and production of a new range of products.

WATERFORD BASED DRUGS Manufacturer Eirgen is to create 30 new jobs, it will be announced today, Siliconrepublic.com reports.

The maker of cancer care drugs says the jobs will help support the research and production of a  new range of products, which already include high potency drugs for cancer treatment.

“We are delighted to announce an additional 30 new highly skilled jobs for Eirgen Pharma” said the company’s co-founder, Patsy Carney. “Our continuing export-led growth is a fantastic endorsement of the achievements made by our staff to date to help us continue to grow our business in over 40 countries worldwide.”

The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton will announce the creation of the jobs at the company’s Old Kilmeadan Road HQ in Waterford City, before attending a forum on jobs for the South-East in the city.

Eirgen was co-founded in 2004 by Tom Brennan and Patsy Carney, who were working the pharmaceutical sector in the city.

In April, a Saudi firm bought a 48 per cent stake in the company for €19 million.
