Elderly musician overwhelmed with responses to ad asking for people to jam with him

“I’ve missed playing, and when I do play now it makes me feel better and young again.”

MUSIC, AS MADONNA wisely said, makes the people come together. And here’s proof.

Pianist Edward Hardy played in a jazz quartet for 40 years, but had no one to play with since he moved into a care home.

A staff member helped the 95-year-old place an ad on Gumtree searching for musicians to come to the home and play with him.

In no time, he was inundated with over 80 requests from musicians more than happy to play – SWNS reports that he has already played with a saxophonist and double bassist.

Three of his former bandmates also got in touch to propose a reunion, and the quartet are rehearsing for a show at Hardy’s nursing home.

It’s amazing so many volunteers have come forward to help me make music and it’s marvellous that I have also been reunited with my old band. I’ve missed playing, and when I do play now it makes me feel better and young again.
