Elderly woman dies in Roscommon road crash

The crash happened outside Boyle this morning.

AN ELDERLY WOMAN has died in a car crash just outside the town of Boyle in Co Roscommon this morning.

An 82-year-old woman died after a crash on the Boyle to Ballymote Road at Mockmoyne at around 10.20am this morning. She was the sole occupant of the car.

The woman was taken to Sligo General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Gardaí say that the road remains closed for a forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.

Witnesses have been asked to contact Gardaí at Boyle on 071 9664620, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
