Cecil Knutson and Dianna Bedwell

Elderly woman found after surviving on oranges and rainwater in the desert

Her husband was found dead near their car.

A WOMAN WHO went missing two weeks ago was found with her 79-year-old husband’s dead body in the middle of the Californian desert.

Dianna Bedwell, 68, was found by off-road drivers, having survived on pies, oranges and rainwater collected in cups, authorities said.

Her husband Cecil Knutson was found dead near the couple’s car.

Bedwell told police that the couple had tried to take a shortcut across the desert, around 65 miles north of San Diego, but had become lost.

Knutson’s son Robert Acosta told local TV that “there is no doubt” that his mother would be dead if not for his father.

“My dad deserves all the praise. His tenacity, his work ethic kept my mom alive. Believe it or not, we find comfort in that.

“I just love him and I miss him.”
