Bird is the organising agent of a political project called Nua Eite/New Wing. She formerly worked for city and county councils in the US. She previously worked as a journalist and she lives in Dundalk.

I am the only candidate with an independent platform designed to put the power of government into the hands of the people by re-establishing town councils, creating and promoting neighborhood councils and block clubs and creating micro-local economic schemes.

Immediate improvement of the quality of life, along with reopening the emergency department at Louth County Hospital, establishing immediate, widespread, intensive drug abuse mental health treatment programs and more.

I would immediately begin the process of restructuring Irish government so that local matters would initially be considered at the block/neighborhood council level, before progressing to town/village council level and eventually referred to the Dáil.
