Biography

Murphy has been a TD since first elected in the 2011 general election. He was appointed as Minister for Housing in 2017. He had previously served as Minister of State for Financial Services, eGovernment and Public Procurement in 2016. Murphy was first elected to South Dublin County Council in 2009. Before his career in politics, Murphy worked in international arms control. He has a degree in English and philosophy and a Masters in international relations.
