Biography
Naughten was first elected as a Fine Gael TD in 1997. He left the party in 2011 and has served as an Independent deputy ever since. He was the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment before resigning from the position in October 2018. He previously held positions on the Fine Gael frontbench as spokesperson for different issues. He was a Senator for a period in 1997.

Why should someone vote for you?
I want to relocate jobs from cities to smaller towns and villages. I want to create new jobs in these areas based on recent investment and infrastructure development, such as broadband, tourism and enterprise centres.
What is your number one priority for your constituency?
Job creation in terms of relocating and creating jobs in the area. I also want investment in agriculture to maintain existing jobs.
What one thing would you like to do in your first 100 days of the new Dáil if you are elected?
Change the law relating to the Fair Deal Nursing Home Scheme to ensure that older people who are in long-term nursing care are not penalised if they wish to rent out their home.
