Biography

Flanagan was first elected to the Dáil in 1987. He lost his seat in 2002 and was re-elected in 2007. He has retained his seat in every election since. He is the current Minister for Justice and Equality. He has previously been Minister for Foreign Affairs as well as Children and Youth Affairs. He was a member of Laois County Council from 1987 to 2004.
