Tax and Spend – Pledging to bring spending in line with 50 per cent cuts, and 50 per cent taxes. Wants the deadline to get borrowing to 3 per cent of GDP to be extended to 2016. Will increase universal social charge on earnings over €100,000 to 10 per cent.
Jobs – Will raise the national wage back to €8.65. Green jobs plan to put about 30,000 construction workers put back to work.
The banks – The only party to vote against the bank guarantee scheme in 2008.
The bailout – Will not unilaterally tear up the EU/IMF deal.
Political reform – Will hold a referendum to abolish the Seanad. Proposing a new expert-led Constitutional Convention which would compose a new constitution to be put to referendum within a year.
Public sector reform – Establish an office of Public Sector Reform with cabinet minister; reduce quangos and reduce management layers in civil and public service
Health – Universal health insurance.
Environment – has proposed draft Climate Change Bill, including establishment of Climate Change Office in Taoiseach’s Department and outlining multi-year carbin budget
