Punters warned about "huge amount" of fake Electric Picnic tickets

Promoters have warned of a large number of very convincing ticket forgeries being offered for sale on the internet.

SCAM ARTISTS ARE taking advantage of people desperately looking for tickets for Electric Picnic, which has sold out this year for the first time since 2008.

Promoters of the festival have warned that there is a “huge amount” of very convincing forgeries being offered on websites and across social media since it was announced five days ago that it is a sell-out.

Promoters urged punters to be careful about buying tickets online. “We urge people not to take any chances by purchasing tickets being offered for sale on these sites,” promoters said this evening.

“Make no mistake the fake tickets will be detected on arrival at the festival and the holders will not be let into the festival grounds.”

The promoters reiterated that no more tickets will be released in advance of this weekend’s festival in Laois.

Some 35,000 tickets have been sold for the tenth anniversary Electric Picnic which is headlined by David Byrne, Bjork, Robert Plant, My Bloody Valentine and Wu-Tang Clan.
