Murderer on the loose after absconding from jail in Wicklow

Gardaí are asking for the public’s assistance in tracking 51-year-old Frederick Lee.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for information this evening after a murderer absconded.

Fredrick Lee had been detained at Shelton Abbey, in Arklow, Co Wicklow.

He left the prison at some time between 6.30am and 7.30am this morning.

The 51-year-old is described as being 5′ 9” with brown hair and brown eyes.

Lee was found guilty of murder before Leeds Crown Court in 1994.

Along with two other men he was convicted of killing an 80-year-old man who suffered multiple facial fractures.

Shelton Abbey is categorised as an open and low-security prison.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information about his whereabouts to contact gardaí in Arklow on 04226320 or in Wicklow Garda Station on 040460140.

Alternatively, contact can be made at any garda station.
