PARTING SHOT

A trip to the shops usually costs money. But, 61-year-old Henry Walker is $7.5 million (€6.44 million) richer after a trip to his local WalMart in Alabama.

Walker was reaching for a watermelon when his foot got stuck on a wooden pallet.

He fell over and broke his hip and foot. A Phenix City court has now awarded him $2.5 million compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damage.

His lawyer Charlie Gower, told The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer: “It was a fair verdict because Walmart just didn’t care.”

With the financial win, the former Army sergeant’s retirement has now just got a whole lot better.
