Explosives and guns found in Galway outhouse

Three people arrested in relation to that find and the discovery of a gun in a house in Tuam.

GARDAI HAVE ARRESTED three people after explosive material and four guns were found in a search operation in Galway.

Detectives searching lands at Monivea, Co Galway yesterday afternoon found “a quantity of explosive material” in an out-building. A handgun and three shotguns were found in a farmhouse at the same place. The Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit (EOD) attended the scene and took away the explosives.

A 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is being held at Galway Garda station.

In a related search and arrest operation, gardai recovered a firearm and arrested two people at a house in Tuam, Co Galway. The pair – a man and woman, both in their 40s – are also being held at Galway Garda station.
