6 weekend events to head to with the kids - from Paddington Bear to worry workshops

Here’s what’s happening around the country this Saturday and Sunday.

DUBLIN

Paddington: This Sunday, The Pavilion Theatre is hosting a showing of Paddington’s first instalment, and we can’t think of a better family movie afternoon than with our favourite teddy bear. Bring the kids (and their bears) – this movie is fantastic.

Journey Through History: Teach the kids all about The Famine and how it touched all corners of the world this weekend at CHQ’s Irish Emigration Museum, EPIC. Family friendly, and super buggy accessible, this is a really well facilitated museum.

Music In Glass: Róisín de Buitléar’s new exhibition at The Ark features a series of glass objects that capture the essence of musical sound. Along with the exhibition there’s an interactive display of glass objects used in real life that kids can use to make their own music.

MAYO

Open Mic Afternoon: The Museum of Country Life is hosting an Open Mic session with the museum’s writing group this Sunday, and it’s especially for families. Take a seat and listen, or share your own poetry and stories.

Suits: Age 12 +. Time: 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Tickets: Free. More info here

Stressed Out Steve’s Worry Workshop: Join Stressed Out Steve at the Riverbank Arts Centre for a fun-filled hour of stress, worry and consternation, where you will get to use art, drama and storytelling to explore the complex concepts of mood and emotion.

TIPPERARY

The Two Johnnies: Comedy duo The Two Johnnies are bringing their own brand of PG humour to The Anner Hotel in Thurles this Sunday with a specially-created kids’ show. Expect barrels of laughs at this sketch show.
