Four-year-old boy killed in Co Mayo farm accident

The boy was taken to Belmullet District Hospital, but was pronounced dead there.

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy has died tonight after being involved in an agricultural accident at a farm in Ballinaboy, near Belmullet, Co Mayo.

Gardaí have confirmed the incident took place at around 8.30 pm.

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has confirmed the incident involved a tractor.

The boy was taken to Belmullet District Hospital, but was pronounced dead there. A post-mortem is due to take place in Ballina.

The scene has been preserved for examination, and the HSA has been notified.
