These are the bits you don't see at fashion runway shows

These photographs give you a glimpse into the world.

ON THE RUNWAY, models look poised and preened to perfection.

But backstage, things are a bit more manic. Photographer Matt Lever works behind the scenes, and has snapped photos of the parts the audience don’t get to see backstage at international fashion shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris.

His photos are featured in the new hardcover book Behind The Runway, from the Dublin-based Roads Publishing, the company owned by Danielle Ryan, daughter of the founder of Ryanair.

As well as the photos, the book features input from fashion icons like Giorgio Armani, Karl Lagerfeld and models like Karlie Kloss and Cara Delevingne.

We’ve selected some of the photos that show the sort of things that go on backstage – from the instructions the models are given (above) to the last-minute tweaking of outfits (while the models are wearing them).
