Teenager held fast-food worker at knifepoint - just to demand free food

The young man was detained by officers shortly after the attempted robbery.

AN 18-YEAR-OLD youth has been arrested in Lurgan, Co Armagh, after an incident at a fast food outlet in the early hours of this morning.

According to police, a young man armed with a knife approached the serving hatch of the premises shortly before 1am “and demanded food”.

He ran off after he was refused by the worker on duty.

“An 18 year old male was apprehended in Church Place at 12.58am and arrested for attempted robbery, possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage,” Detective Inspector Will Tate said.

“He is currently assisting us with our enquiries.”
