Person dies after car crashes into wall and goes on fire in Lismore

The deceased’s age or gender are not yet available as the body has not been positively identified.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING a single-vehicle fatal road collision that occurred on the N72 at Ballygalane, Lower Lismore, Co Waterford.

A car collided with a wall at about 6.30pm yesterday and subsequently went on fire.

A body was removed from the car and taken to University Hospital Waterford.

No further details of the deceased’s age or gender are available as the body has not been positively identified. The person was the sole occupant of the car.

The stretch of road on which the accident took place was closed to facilitate an examination by garda forensic collision investigators, but has since reopened.
