Man in his 60s dies in car crash in Louth

Part of the Dundalk to Castleblayney Road is closed and local diversions are in place.

A MAN IN his early 60s has died in a single-vehicle collision in Co Louth.

Gardaí in Dundalk are investigating the collision, which occurred at Rassan on the Dundalk to Castleblayney Road (N53), about five miles outside Dundalk, at around 7am today.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body is still at the scene.

The road has been closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and local diversions are in place.

Witnesses or anyone who was on the road between 6.30am and 7.15am are asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 9388400, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
