Woman in her 70s dies in house fire

A post-mortem is due to take place this morning.

A WOMAN IN her 70s has died in a house fire in Donegal.

Gardaí at Milford are investigating the fatal fire, which occurred at a house Ballyboes, Creeslough, Donegal, shortly after 1am this morning.

Emergency services responded to a call at this location. Inside, they found the body of a female in her 70s, who lived alone. She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to Letterkenny General Hospital.

The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem will take place this morning.

The scene remains preserved pending a Garda technical examination, and investigations are continuing.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, particularly those who were in the Ballyboes area, to contact them at Milford Garda Station on 074 9153060, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
