Man (18) dies and passenger injured in Mayo car crash

The car collided with a wall at Blacksod earlier this evening.

AN 18-YEAR-OLD HAS died and a passenger in their late teens was injured in a single car collision in Mayo earlier this evening.

The incident occurred at Tarmon, Blacksod, at 5.40pm.

Gardaí say the car left the road and collided with a wall.

The 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was air-lifted to Mayo General Hospital. He is not believed to be critically injured.

The road is closed but is expected to reopen in the morning after a forensic examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this collision to contact Belmullet Garda Station 097 81910, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
