Fatal road crashes in Cork and Sligo

A woman in her 70s in Cork and a 26 year old man in Sligo died in the accidents.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING two separate road collisions in Cork and Sligo in which two people died last night.

A female driver in her 70s was killed at approximately 7.30pm  at Dromgarriff, Glengarriff, Co Cork in a two vehicle collision. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The male driver of the other car was uninjured.

In a separate incident, a 26 year old male motorcyclist died when his motorcycle hit a ditch at Doonmarray, Ballygawley, Co Sligo at 8.20pm.

He was removed to Sligo General Hospital and pronounced dead shortly before 10pm.

The road is closed pending a Garda Forensic Examination and diversions are in place.

Witnesses are asked to contact the local Garda station in both locations
