Pedestrian killed on road identified as 26-year-old woman

A man has been arrested over the single-vehicle incident in which Danielle McKenna died.

THE PEDESTRIAN killed in a road accident in the early hours of this morning has been named as 26-year-old Danielle McKenna.

McKenna, from Portaferry in Co Down, was walking on a road close to the nearby town of Kircubbin when the accident happened at around 3am.

A single vehicle was involved. A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, which took place on the Rowreagh Road that runs along the eastern shore of Strangford Lough.

Police in Newtownards have appealed to anyone who saw two pedestrians – one male and one female – walking in the area early this morning to contact them.
