PLANNING ON BECOMING a parent one day, or considering trying to conceive another child? Whatever the case, it’s worth considering some of the statistics surrounding fertility – and there can be misconceptions.

While we hear stories of the so-called ‘fertility cliff’ in our early thirties, the actual statistics tell a different story. We’d like to look at the solid facts surrounding fertility in order to encourage a more open conversation around the topic.

From the chances of conceiving each month (16%) to the statistics that you will within a year of regular unprotected sex (85%), to the average age of first-time mothers in Ireland (30.5), here’s everything you’ve ever wondered about fertility.

For those couples who do face issues with fertility (one in six), 8,000 couples each year make the decision to pursue fertility treatment.

Watch the video above to learn the must-know facts regarding fertility in Ireland.
