6 festive ways to bring Christmas cheer to your front door this season

From welcoming wreaths to pleasing plants, here’s how to get your front door ready for Christmas.

CHRISTMAS IS APPROACHING and that often means lots of visitors will be, too.

Decorating the front door is always a nice, welcoming touch and serves as a precursor for how your home has been decorated inside.

This week, we’ve searched high and low on Instagram for front door ideas that aren’t too over the top, but still embrace the Christmas spirit. It’s time to get festive!

Rug addict: Two nicely layered weather-resistant mats will draw attention to your doorway and add depth to the design scheme. We love @sbkliving’s checkered mat and matching cushion peeking into the shot.

Look at this reversible rug on Littlewoods Ireland.

Inside out: If you have little or no shelter over the door, decorating in a way that’s safe – and won’t get wet when it comes to electrics – might be the answer. @our_self_build_ni added two trees adorned with lights that shine through the windows to frame the doorway and give Christmas cheer.

Bauble burst: @newlandsrealestate goes big and goes home with this loud and commanding wreath against this pretty pink door. Traditional wreaths have had contemporary upgrades in recent years and baubles are a sure sign your house is ready for the big day.

Plants on pink: Colour and symmetry are the order of the day when it comes to @athomewithashley’s doorstep. The touch of metallic keeps things modern, while the evergreen foliage around the frame sets the seasonal theme.

Perfect match: Small additions can tie a whole look together when you take colour into account. @thevintageroom’s heart-shaped wreath brings festive cheer and we love how the lantern colour matches this door perfectly.

How about painting these lanterns from IKEA  in a similar shade to your front door?

Wonderful wood: @jogalbraithathome creates a simple forest scene with mini trees set in pretty woven baskets. She also added a basket of chopped wood that looks ready to be taken inside for the fire.
