Six apartments burn in overnight blaze

At one point seven fire engines attended the scene.

A SET OF apartments have sustained serious damage after a fire yesterday evening.

The blaze happened on Benburb Street on Dublin’s northside and resulted in the Red Line Luas being blocked for a time.

At one point Dublin Fire Brigade had seven units attending the scene, using a water tower system to combat the flames.

The fire could be seen protruding from the roof of the building.

Residents were evacuated and nobody sustained injuries.

Firefighters were at the scene for more than an hour. The incident has been concluded now.

It is thought that substantial building work will have to take place to repair the damage caused.
