Dublin firefighters rescue some 'furry family members' from Drimnagh house fire

In a post on X (Twitter), Dublin Fire Brigade said it had rescued “some furry family members”.

DUBLIN FIREFIGHTERS RESCUED three pets while responding to a house fire in Drimnagh last night. 

At about 11pm, Dublin Fire Brigade received reports of a house fire in Drimnagh following a 999 call.

“Two fire engines and a District Officer from Dolphins Barn fire station responded to the scene and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire shortly after arrival,” a fire brigade spokesperson said.

“Breathing apparatus teams conducted a search of the building and took three family pets to safety.”

In a post on X (Twitter), Dublin Fire Brigade said it had rescued “some furry family members”.

    @Trish O’Leary-Dunne. I have family and one of them had a pet dog in the the house in which we lived. While I appreciated the dog, Kate. I did not and would not ever consider him to be “family”. If this nonsense continues I’m afraid we will have to have another referendum!

    @Felicity Hensen. While there is some evidence that apes and elephants have concepts of “family” there is zero evidence that dogs do. All the evidence in fact points the other way. Dogs leave their “families” shortly after birth and seldom see them again. You are interpreting the affection shown by dogs as them considering those to whom they are showing affection as as being part of their non existent family. Claptrap

    @Padraig O’Brien: dogs are domesticated wolves and you should do a bit of research on wolf packs which are in effect families. With the exception of solitary predators most animal species are herd animals which protect the young within their group. Most animals have emotions and can laugh. When we socialise pets from young we in effect become their herd, group or family. My dog smiles me when I come home and is alert to my emotions.
