The scene of the fire today John Ennis via Twitter

Fire reported at Bang Restaurant

The café was previously owned by Simon and Christian Stokes but reopened under new management in 2010.

THERE ARE REPORTS that Bang Restaurant is on fire in Dublin.

The restaurant is located on Merrion Row in the city centre. The road was closed off by gardaí but has since reopened.

Onlookers have said that nearby buildings have been evacuated.

A number of photographs of the fire have appeared on Twitter, showing smoke streaming from a top window of the building. It is not known if anyone was inside the building when it went on fire.

Bang Café was owned by brothers Simon and Christian Stokes. It was reopened in April 2010 as Bang Restaurant under new management by Joe Barrett and Head Chef Phil Yeung, along with investors Anne Barrett, Bobby Kerr (of Dragon’s Den and Insomnia) and Aislinn Barrett.

One year ago, the High Court heard that Bang Café was wound up with debts of €2.4m, RTÉ reported at the time, noting that the brothers spent almost €146,000 of the restaurant company’s money on personal expenses.

Here’s hoping but it’s unlikely. The governor of Florida only imposed a lockdown there on April 1st as he had only recently learned the virus can be spread by people without symptoms. You can’t make this stuff up.

Artemis Fowl moving to streaming was likely more to do with it’s bad pre-release screening reaction. Poor characters due to movie makers messing with the book and re-writing characters and parts that conflicted with the original.

Cinema’s are empty for onvious reasons. I doubt that streaming platforms will pick up the production of big budget productions (beside the odd case) anywhen in near future.

Might be that the virus could kill the struggling cinema industry and with it big productions for good.
