Road remains closed after fire at Dublin scrapyard

Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene of a fire at a property on the Old Swords Road last night. No one was injured in the incident.

Update: 2pm

THE OLD SWORDS Road remains closed until at least this evening following a fire a scrapyard in north Dublin late last night.

Nobody was injured in the incident and the fire, which broke out at around midnight, was eventually put out.

Gardaí are investigating the cause of the fire.

The road, known as the R132, will remain closed until at least this evening, between Nevinstown Lane and Cloghran roundabout. Dublin Bus Routes 41, 41c and 33 will divert via Boroimhe, Forest Road and Naul Road according to AA Roadwatch.

Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) attended the scene of the fire but it is understood that a foam tender had to be requested from Dublin Airport Fire Service as DFB does not have one.

The foam tender sustained a puncture when leaving the yard and was stuck on the scene for over two hours while awaiting repair.
