Two teenagers killed after crash starts fire, third teen in critical condition

The collision caused a fire which spread to a nearby property.

TWO YOUNG MEN have died after a single vehicle crash in Down last night, while a third man is in a critical condition.

The crash happened in Rostrevor at around 11:55pm. The car left Kilbroney Road and struck a wall.

The collision then caused a fire at a nearby oil tank which spread to a property.

An elderly woman who was in the house was taken to hospital to be treated for shock.

The third man is also being treated in hospital, his condition is described as critical. All three men are believed to be aged in their late teens.

Inspector Stephen Humphries said: “We are working to establish the circumstances of the collision and I am appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who was travelling on the Kilbroney Road prior to the time of the collision and who may have seen a silver Volkswagen Bora on the road. The number to call is 101.”
