Firearm and cocaine seized during Dublin house search

Cocaine worth approximately €21,000 was seized, along with a firearm and ammunition, from a house in Poppintree.

ONE MAN HAS BEEN arrested and firearm and ammunition seized as part of a search of a house in Dublin yesterday.

The planned operation took place on the evening of Sunday 5 May at a house in Poppintree, Dublin 11.

During the course of the search Gardaí recovered a 9mm pistol, 8 rounds of ammunition and a quantity of cocaine. The drugs, subject to analysis, are believed to have a street value of €21,000.

A man, 30, was arrested at the scene and is being detained under Section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act ,1939 at Ballymun Garda Station. He can be detained for up to 72 hours.

A forensic technical examination is under way at the premises and the operation is ongoing.
