British fishing boat detained off Mizen Head for breaking fishing rules

The boat is being escorted to Castletownbere.

A BRITISH REGISTERED fishing vessel has been detained around 90 nautical miles south west off Mizen Head, Co Cork.

The Naval Service’s L.É. AOIFE detained the boat in relation to an alleged breach of fishing rules.

The boat is being escorted to Castletownbere, and it is expected to arrive tomorrow morning, where it will be handed over to the gardaí.

It brings to 730 total vessels boarded by the Naval Service so far this year, while seven have been detained. They also issued 24 warnings.
