French fishing boat detained by naval service

The boat was stopped off the Cork coast late last night and will be handed over to Gardaí.

A FRENCH FISHING vessel has been detained by the Naval Service off the Cork coast over an alleged breach of fishing regulations.

The boat was stopped late last night around 170 nautical miles off the coast of Castletownbere in Cork.

The vessel is currently under escort by the naval service vessel LE Róisín.

It is expected to arrive in Cork later this evening when it will be handed over to the Gardaí.

This is the 16th vessel to be detained by the Naval Service so far this year. An additional 1061 vessels have been boarded and 39 warnings have been issued.
