Five arrested over murders of Des Kelly and Breda Waters

The two were shot and fatally injured in a house in Limerick’s O’Malley Park in January.

FIVE PEOPLE have been arrested today in connection with the murders of Des Kelly, 23, and Breda Waters, 28, on 8 January 2011.

The two bodies were discovered at a house in O’Malley Park, Limerick. A post-mortem revealed that they had each been killed by a single gunshot wound.

Two men aged in their 30s, a juvenile male, a woman in her 50s and a woman aged in her late teens were all arrested in the Limerick area this morning.

They are currently being held at Roxboro Road, Henry Street, Mayorstone, and Bruff Garda Stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

Two men are to face trial on suspicion of killing Kelly and Waters. Thomas Stewart, 27, of the Cedars, Briarfield, Castletroy, Limerick and Patrick O’Brien, 31, Glanntán, Golf Links Road, Castletroy have been charged over the double killings.
