Calor gas isn't happy with another company using its bottles

They’ve taken them to court.

CALOR GAS HAS taken a number of companies to court as they claim that their bottles are being filled without their knowledge or permission.

The High Court proceedings by Calor also claim that their branded cylinders are being modified to accept a different type of gas.

These issues they say could have led to members of the public mistakenly believing that their cylinders had been filled and supplied by Calor when this was not the case

Two subsidiaries of Flogas Ireland are included in the proceedings and a separate case was taken against Southern Bottled Gas Distribution, an authorised filler and distributor of Flogas.

The case against the distribution company was settled on Wednesday after they made a commitment to immediately cease all handling of Calor branded cylinders.

A hearing date was also set for September for the proceedings against the two Flogas subsidiaries.

Calor says that they cannot make any guarantees on the safety or quality of their branded cylinders if they are filled by an unauthorised source.

They say that this includes their gas cylinders that are filled at Flogas sites adding that they will continue to monitor if sellers are using their branded cylinders illegally eslewhere.
