Drivers warned to be cautious as Status Yellow fog warning in place for 18 counties

The warning is valid until 11am today.

LAST UPDATE | 13 Oct 2021

MOTORISTS IN LEINSTER and Munster are being warned to drive with caution this morning as a Status Yellow fog warning is in place.

The warning is valid for 18 counties until 11am this morning.

Met Éireann has warned there will be dense fog in parts with poor visibility.

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has urged motorists to drive with extra care, using fog lights, but also reminded drivers to turn them off when they’re no longer necessary.

“Road users should listen to weather forecasts and general advice about driving conditions and if you must drive in fog, allow plenty of extra time for your journey. Before setting out, check that your car is in good working order, particularly that all the lights, including fog lights, work properly and are clean,” the RSA said in a statement.

Met Éireann says it expects fog to clear slowly during the morning.

Otherwise, today is shaping up to be a dry day with a mix of cloud and autumn sunshine.

Met Éireann said it will be the brightest across the southern half of the country, feeling rather mild with highest temperatures ranging 14 to 17 degrees.

Some showery rain will prevail in the northern half of the country tomorrow morning, before a heavier band of rain extends from the north over Ulster and north Connacht by evening. Highest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees.
