Foul play ruled out in fire query

Wicklow fire scene examined by forensic experts.

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING a fire at a timber factory in Co Wicklow have ruled out arson. No evidence of deliberate ignition was found in a forensic examination of the scene, RTÉ reports.

The  Woodfab manufacturing plant in Aughrim was seriously damaged by a fire early yesterday morning. A passing taxi driver spotted the flames at around 1.30am and raised the alarm.

Sixty-five people are employed directly at the company, and another 70 are subcontracted by Woodfab.

The company says its unsure when it can reopen for business or resume manufacturing timber products.
