Four arrested in Galway over murder of Polish man

A man, a woman and two teenagers have been arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of Krzysztof Ciesielski, who died yesterday.

FOUR PEOPLE HAVE been arrested as part of a garda investigation into the murder of a Polish man in Athenry, Co Galway.

The 40-year-old victim, Krzysztof Ciesielski, sustained serious head injuries during an incident outside a house at Cullairbaun Estate on 30 May. He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Galway after the incident.

Ciesielski was pronounced dead yesterday evening.

A post-mortem examination was carried out earlier today by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Khalid Jabber at University Hospital Galway, after which gardai confirmed they would be treating the death as murder.

Four arrests were made this evening in the Galway area as part of the investigation.

Two males aged in their teens are detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Galway Garda Station. A third male aged in his 40s also detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 is detained at Gort Garda Station and a female aged in her late 30s is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at Galway Garda Station.
